Today's society does not 'like' curvy women. It idolizes stick figure models, and anorexic dolls. Even the emphasis on needing to lose weight gets twisted into 'curvy women need to be skinny to be healthy'. And being 'curvy' is treated as if it were the same thing as being overweight, to the point that a popular dating site has called 'curvy' a 'positive way of viewing being overweight.'

Women are meant to be curvyThe reality is, there is nothing wrong with being a curvy woman, and being curvy is definitely not the same thing as being overweight. In fact, as the diagram of normal female figure makes clear, women are supposed  to be curvy. How curvy a woman is mostly a matter of bone structure and breasts.

Bone Structure: It's called having hips. The nice wide ones that made childbirth easier and men love to hold onto. Put simply, if you have wide hipbones, you will have big hips. The biggest problem with having wide hips? It's hard to find clothes that look flattering on them. That's it.

Breasts: Breasts are a woman’s definitive curves. The bigger the breasts, the more a woman will have. Technically, there is fat tissue in the breasts, and many women dieting over the years have been horrified to find their bra size going down while their waist size stubbornly stays the same. That said, the fat tissue in breasts is supposed to be there, and is not in any way unhealthy or bad. If a woman's breasts are big enough to cause back problems or other issues, she might want to look into a breast reduction. Beyond that breast size has no impact on a woman's health or the amount of milk she produces.

While some curvy women are overweight, being curvy is definitely not the same thing as being overweight. So if you are a curvy woman, be proud of your body, you have every reason to be.
